Pronoun Case When you see a pronoun, ask yourself: Is this pronoun in the proper form? A pronoun must be in the correct grammatical case based on its role in the sentence. Pronoun Case Rules 1. People or Groups: You may see a pronoun combined with another noun. Strategy: Remove the extra noun/group and test the pronoun alone. Every Sunday, the other children and [she/her] pretended... -> Test: She pretended (Correct). 2. Than / As (Hidden Verb): Pronoun case appears in comparisons using than or as. There is an implied verb after the pronoun. No one did better than [she/her]. -> Expand: She did. -> No one did better than she. 3. Reflexive Pronouns: Use reflexive pronouns ONLY when the subject = object. Same subject & object ONLY. She taught herself. I did it myself. (Do NOT use after prepositions incorrectly: "to John and myself" is WRONG. "to John and me" is CORRECT). 4. After Prepositions: Always use objective pronouns after between/among, to, for, with. Example: between you and me.
